The history of the property... Told by Aline

You are entering a real adventure when you push open the door of the Manor!
Past the now electric gate, you meet your hostess and the chance to experience an incredible story!
That of Georges and Lucie, an atypical couple who made their love at first sight, from 1903, an ode to life at the Manoir de la Frazelière: this house named in memory of the Place Frézeau de la Frézellière, in Mont Sur Guesnes, a village in Haute Vienne where it all began!
They give birth to Germaine, an incredible little woman, whose love marriage with a Protestant, Éric le pied noir, truly launches the adventure!
Here it is told!
Aunt Maine and Uncle Eric, or Babou and Mamie, as everyone called them, were so well matched that the tables and festivities were in full swing throughout their lives.
There we find notables of the city, doctors, girls to court, travelers passing through, distant cousins... domestic workers who soon settle in.
Do you want to know how we move from one century to the next to the sound of music, pots and pans, barking and laughter?
We're still talking about it on social media today!
We prepared there for balls or surprises that were held in the garage, we discussed for hours on the terrace at the foot of a sequoia which today, after more than 100 years of secrets, has been resurrected in the works of artisans, after an inevitable decapitation: look carefully, you can see some very useful remains.
But above all, we would sit at the table for hours to enjoy the famous roast and chips, Mont pancakes, chocolate caramels, strawberry tart, crème caramel, green beans from the vegetable garden, strawberries in wine, mimosa eggs from our grandmother's chickens, little ham pots, curds, walnuts with honey from our bees, the sacrosanct Sunday cakes, marinated salmon... on plates that were always decorated with flowers and with animal-shaped knife holders. We arranged the flutes, water glasses, white wine glasses and red wine glasses on the table in a staggered pattern in front of each person!
So obviously we knew how to welcome guests in this house which went from the Manoir de la Frazelière to "la Fraz'" in a few generations: the 3rd generation became experts in the art of the table and the 4th finds you in the 21st century with the same enthusiasm, the same ingenuity and the taste for welcoming guests in all simplicity with touches of well-inherited humor.
Generations of painters, designers, students, singers, musicians, actors, architects, athletes, dancers, comedians, teachers, filmmakers, carpenters, directors, businessmen and women, fishermen, pastors and priests, doctors, healers, workers, engineers, thieves have roamed the nooks and crannies of the small to the large living rooms, right up to the attics and passing through the toilets (on every floor, please).
Children, lovers, German occupiers, cousins, English or Spanish correspondents, Portuguese guards, gardeners, workers, cats drowned in the washing machine, dogs eating freshly ground steaks delivered by the butcher's truck...
I assure you that you will only have to sit down "at the back", that corner of the garden towards which you can head by going around the mound, which has seen children and adolescents turn, those who spent their time running, going up, going down and no doubt kissing.
I lost you in all these stories: let's go back to the 2nd generation after a few years of marriage and especially after the war, when the occupants were cleared out and a new, happier life began again!
In this corner of France where the accent is the most pleasant and the language the purest, in the heart of the Loire castles, its queens and kings of France, its vineyards and its cycle paths, it is good to meet and love each other at the Manoir de la Frazelière.
It was the time of the park on the other side of the street, as far as the eye could see up to the church bell tower in the centre of the town and wooded with trees of all kinds, fruit or exotic, where it was pleasant to stroll around a pond worthy of a novel.
The long-awaited offspring was long missed as our beloved couple was bereaved by stillborn triplets.
So having only love to give and share, they let themselves be surrounded by a lady-in-waiting, Anne-Marie, who came out of her countryside barely of age and who simplifies their existence, takes care of the household, also brightens up the days and when she is not nesting in her lonely room, falls in love with the policeman next door and gives birth to a pearl, Monique! Here is the 3rd generation determined to break with destinies!
Germaine and Eric decide to adopt her and thus offer a rather comfortable life to this improvised mother-daughter duo, who will never be able to separate from a father and husband suddenly estranged.
The family, which we could call blended, learns to live together within these walls that are definitely charged with emotion: what follows are stories that will put you to sleep, bonds that are created, silences like debates, celebrations, illnesses, learning, travels...
One fine day, Monique fulfills a sweet dream of founding in turn what will be her most beautiful creation: her family unfolds with Tom, who came from the cold of the Great North of Europe, under the tender eyes of an old couple and a more peaceful mother.
The 4th generation, feminine and valiant, will follow, because in a joyful and conquering spirit, Monique flies to Paris, her eyes filled with stars and tears too...
Hold on tight, it's not over! Decades of back and forth: it's the whirlwind, the housework, the tennis, the friends, the sisters of the heart, the big-hearted cousins, the stoves, the melodramas, the endless laughter, the old aunts who sting, the dogs who pee, the alphabets while burping, the cheese platters that fly away, the work that modernizes the home, the disappearances of these souls, one after the other as the wrinkles appear until retirement slows down the rhythm of the famous Franco-Norwegian couple.
Your hostess, Erika, the last of the gracious sisters, the little blonde after the brunette and the chestnut-haired one, settles in where perhaps a fly bit her! She sets herself one more challenge to restore to the Fraz its letters of nobility, those of the heart and authenticity by opening the house, its outbuildings in gîte and tourist accommodation and business tourism.
Here is the 4th generation on board!
The Manoir de la Frazelière never ceases to amaze: each generation has seen its originality and its associated trademark emerge.
From the foundations of Georges to the modernity of Erika, the welcome is deeply sincere and respectful of traditions to bring back to life, for the duration of an event, the living stories of past families.
You will regularly find here and there anecdotes, memories, winks, traces, shadows, angel dust in this Manor which in turn shapes a committed 5th generation…
